How Many Vehicles Will Tesla Sell in Europe in 2025?

Recent reports indicate that Tesla sales have dropped significantly in California and some European markets. Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s manic sprint into right-wing politics in the US and Europe seems to be a key influence here. However, so is the fact that the company still has just two mass-market products (the Model 3 and Model Y), and while these models have just gotten facelifts and internal tech updates, those changes are cool but aren’t amazing. In the meantime, other automakers keep rolling out new model after new model.

On the plus side for Tesla, the Model Y has been the top selling electric model in Europe for the past couple of years, and that was even before the facelift and tech upgrades.

With all of these different factors up in the air, one of our behind-the-scenes hotshots from Europe had an interesting idea. He proposed we ask readers how many sales Tesla will lose in Europe in 2025. I decided to make the title and survey a little less spicy, but I am very curious to see how much people think the factors above — especially the obvious one — will affect Tesla’s business in Europe.

I don’t want to influence opinions too much, but it does seem important to provide the following perspective from an expert on these matters, José Pontes. The following is from his report on December sales figures for these two models in Europe (the two best selling EVs in Europe in December):

#1 Tesla Model Y — The 2022 (and 2023, and 2024…) best selling EV in Europe had a solid 28,679 deliveries in December, a 15% improvement over the same month last year. With a refreshed Model Y coming soon, with incremental improvements in all the right places (although the design could be considered debatable), expect the crossover’s domination to continue in Europe throughout 2025. Although, with competition getting stronger by year end, 2026 might be the first year when the Model Y will have to work hard to keep the throne.

#2 Tesla Model 3 — Tesla’s sedan had 15,360 deliveries in December, which was a 17% improvement YoY. With its sibling Model Y going through a refresh soon, expect the sedan’s sales to drop in 2025. It could possibly end the year at around 105,000–110,000 sales.”

Overall, the Model Y had 211,397 sales across 2024 in Europe, while the Model 3 had 113,783 sales. So, together they combined for about 325,000 sales. But the question is — how many will sell in 2025? Chime in here to provide your opinion:

I’m curious to see what people think will happen with Tesla in Europe this year! Of course, we don’t even know what is yet to happen, what Elon Musk is yet to do. So, aside from thinking about the effects of what has already happened, in making a forecast, one must make some assumptions or guesses about what Elon Musk will do and say in the remaining 10 months of the year.
